Real Scottish Journeys

We are based on the Isle of Skye. We offer a wide range of value for money, small group, guided tours throughout Scotland.
We constantly update and improve our tour programme, we always try to do a bit better and we respond positively to customer feedback. Time off the bus is important and we stop and explore at every opportunity.

OUR GUIDES

Our guides are native Scots and they love a good story, it’s in their blood. They are a friendly approachable bunch, sometimes funny and always informative. We have experience in history, clan history, geography and geology. Our guides on Skye are Stuart, Bill and Murray. They have many years of experience and their flexible approach helps to make each tour relaxed and they will work hard to make your tour special. After all, it may be a long time before you pass this way again!

I love to share Scotland's story with visitors from all over the world. Their reactions and their experience make everyday different. I have a life long interest in Ecology. I like to understand how things fit together and where we fit in and not just in the natural world.  My interest is Scottish history, it's legends and culture have helped shape my life. After a career in conservation and environmental education I have been guiding on Skye and throughout the highlands for 16 years.

For me, there is no greater vocation that being a tour-guide.  It is a pleasure to share Scotland and all her glories and stories with visitors... and I extend you the warmest welcome. I am very excited to become a crofter.  We 3 have recently taken on a croft (small farm) in Assynt and I am the green-fingered magic-maker. I love meeting lovely folk from all over the globe and telling the tales of Scotlands Highlands and Islands.
Why tour with us?

We take you on a real journey. Our tours are the best way to see and learn about Scotland in a relaxed and informal way. You will be with other travellers from around the world. People of all ages and backgrounds book tours with Real Scottish Journeys and many lasting friendships have been formed over the years. There are as many stops as possible throughout the day, with short walks to explore and experience special places for yourself. On extended tours we may walk for up to two hours.
About accommodation

All our tour prices do not include any accommodation costs. This allows you to choose the type of accommodation that best suits you. We recommend great value award winning hostels and cosy B&B’s that are locally owned and run. For your evening meal, we will direct you to the nearest pub or restaurant. If you are self catering in a hostel, there will be plenty of opportunity to buy food.
Our commitment to the environment

Tourism is important to the highland economy. We think it is important that the money that you spend stays local. We always try to support locally owned and run shops hostels pubs restaurants and B&B’s. This helps sustain small communities in the Highlands. By touring as group this also helps to reduce the number of vehicles on the road and carbon emissions. We try to minimise the amount of written material that we produce and recycle when possible.
