Touring Raasay.
Each tour will be a little bit different. Typically we drive to Inverarish, the main settlement, which was built to house the iron mine workers. Then on to North Fearns settled by the Raasay Raiders. From here we walk to the memorial cairn dedicated to Sorely Maclean overlooking Hallaig. This is a stunning coastal walk and there is time to reflect on the story of Hallaig. Before it was cleared in 1854 Hallaig was the largest settlement on Raasay. A thriving community had lived, loved and dreamed here for over a thousand years. It is well sheltered and the fertile soil would have provided well for those who once lived there. Hallaig was immortalised by Raasay born writer, thinker and poet Sorley Maclean. We stop for lunch at Raasay House or take away from the Larch Box. Then we drive north to explore Calum's road and look at the dramatic ruins of Brochel Castle. Returning to Raasay house we walk up Temptation Hill, with breathtaking views across the sound of Raasay to the Cuillin and Trotternish. Perhaps, end our day with a wonderful distillery tour and a fine wee dram. Thats Raasay Time.

Raasay Distillery
Optional visit to the first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay which began distilling in 2017. They are creating a fine island single malt Scotch whisky. Raasay Distillery is a unique whisky destination with arguably the best view from any distillery in Scotland. They are harvesting the first Raasay barley for a generation, and are handcrafting the first Raasay single malt in Scotch whisky history with water sourced from a well deep beneath the distillery.
